Welcome to the Career Centre

Job change is a time of excitement for some, anxiety for others. We understand the impact it has for you and want to share some thoughts.

Work your way through the paragraphs below and click on the links of interest to you. The advice we offer is borne not just from our twenty years in recruitment, but also direct from some of the hiring managers with whom we work.

Looking to change job is a significant decision in many respects. Not just in Career Management terms, but also in how it impacts on our personal well being. Like any important task you need to create a plan to ensure you achieve your objective. Before you start, make sure you have an outstanding CV prepared. Having done that, don’t make the common mistake of sending a poor cover letter with it.

Like making presentations, many people get nervous about their performance at interview. It’s understandable, as a lot often rides on the outcome. Preparation is always the key to making a good impression, practising answers to interview questions, knowing what to ask too, is important. A lot of organisations use psychometric evaluation as part of their selection processes. This is perfectly normal and not something that should ever cause you concern.

When you do receive a job offer and want to negotiate your salary, its important to know what to do. And when it comes to managing your resignation, remember one day you may need a reference from that employer. Occasionally you might have queries about your employment contract and if we can help we will. Remember, if the answer is not here, email us at careercentre@hrmrecruit.com  and we will come back to you as soon as possible with the best answer we can give.
