Business Excellence Manager

My client organisation operates in a fast changing environment which means that business processes and the supporting organisation capabilities must continually evolve to keep pace with increasing levels of complexity and customer requirements. They are now seeking a Business Excellence Manager with a background in the pharmaceutical industry to join their team in Cork.

The Role

As Business Excellence Manager you will sit on the leadership team in Cork managing the implementation of overall Operation Excellence strategy for the site. You will report directly to the site director and will interface with the various departments and extended leadership team to ensure the successful delivery of the company strategy.

In the role of Business Excellence Manager you will work across all functions, interacting with R&D, engineering, operations, commercial and marketing, and deliver end-to-end process efficiencies that will create true value to customers. You will have responsibility for:

  • Establishing an Operational Excellence strategy for the site and lead site strategy changes such as site manufacturing strategy, masterplan and organisational design
  • Providing leadership utilising Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to develop and lead key business initiatives for continuous improvement, productivity, quality, and cost improvement projects
  • Mentoring Black Belts, Green Belts and other personnel on Lean and Six Sigma methodologies including coaching and training of all personnel on Operational Excellence tools and techniques
  • Coordinating Process Improvement Teams reviews and actions
  • Liaising with the Global Operational Excellence Organisation
  • Benchmarking with other sites and industries on Business Excellence initiatives

The Person

As the ideal Business Excellence Manager, you will have a Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or a science / business discipline (an MBA would also be advantageous) with 5+ years’ pharmaceutical manufacturing industry experience in continuous improvement, business excellence or operational excellence role.

You will be Green Belt qualified, preferably Black Belt certified, have strong analytical skills and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access).

Strong oral and written communication skills, with an ability to work effectively with all functions globally will round out your profile along with interpersonal savvy, strategic agility, a strong customer focus and well developed decision making capabilities.

Desirable Skills:

  • Black belt in Six Sigma
  • Lean manufacturing experience
