Head of QP

This organisation is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies worldwide. Founded in the early 1900’s, this organisation began its Irish operation in the 1950’s. Employing over 5000 staff globally and headquartered in Europe, this business has devoted decades of research and development to delivering products and solutions to people with skin conditions in more than 100 countries globally.

The Role

The Head of QP will lead and manage a team of QPs and Quality Executives. Responsibilities will include input to global quality policies and guidelines/principal procedures, also maintenance and improvement of local QP procedures. The Head of QP will participate in the quality management team and liaises with quality personnel at other manufacturing sites to ensure that quality systems remain harmonised globally. Regular interaction will also occur with other company personnel. The successful candidate will be included as QP on the Company’s Human Medicine, Veterinary and Investigational Medicinal Product Manufacturing Licences. The Head of QP will be responsible to ensure that the department delivers to the required company quality/compliance, customer service and cost targets. The Head of QP is expected to proactively drive and deliver quality/compliance and performance improvement initiatives both within the department and cross-departmentally onsite and globally and also supports cross-functional projects including New Product Introductions, Employee Development, LEAN and others.

  • Management of product release and related support activities.
  • Maintenance and improvement of GMP programmes for the main production areas within the Business Units, ensuring that these comply with cGMP/regulatory requirements and Global Quality policies and procedures along with further development of the Quality Management System in co-operation with the Quality Systems and Support Department (QSSD).
  • Leadership of QP towards the Quality “Future State”, i.e., by optimising Quality oversight, partnerships, leadership, globalisation (i.e., how QP personnel support the business globally) and performance efficiencies.

The Person

  • A minimum of a Science, Pharmacy, or equivalent honours degree and eligible to be licenced as QP under European Directives.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a quality or production function within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Previous supervisory/management and QP experience is advantageous.
  • Good knowledge and experience of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and quality systems is required, including qualification, validation, change control and regulatory affairs.
