Job description

Our client, a market leader in the financial services sector, is going through a number of positive developments including a new strategic focus and substantial growth plans. As a result, they are looking to hire an experienced and effective Project Manager to support a number of key projects and sub-projects that are being rolled out. The role is intended to be a long term daily rate contract and would offer huge scope for development and impact in a blue-chip environment.

The Role

The Project Manager will be sitting in the European head office based in Dublin City Centre and will report to the Senior Programme Manager. The Project Manager will be responsible for running and delivering on a number of projects within the wider group. These projects would include both:

  • Strategic projects dealing with internal and external stakeholders
  • Internal Projects - requiring the close management of internal stakeholders to ensure delivery in adherence to governance and reporting structures

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing multiple projects as part of a program of deliveries within overall release
  • Ensuring adherence to the Project Definition Document throughout the project life cycles as agreed at the initiation stage for each project
  • Creating, maintaining and managing the project plan for all key components and dependencies of the project
  • Ensuring that all components have valid up to date plans, are aligned at all times, and that inter dependencies are identified and committed
  • Allocating resources within the project whilst maximising functional effectiveness
  • Ensuring all contracts with external vendors are in place for the project
  • Minimising exposure to risk across multiple projects
  • Managing the scope and minimise any risk exposures across multiple projects - ensuring up to date risk registers are maintained across the various projects
  • Managing the engagement and communication with relevant stakeholders throughout the organisation
  • Documenting and reporting on project plans, updated progress, current status, issues and actions to the relevant stakeholders
  • Managing the budget for projects and oversee the overall program budget
  • Working closely with the Programme Manager to ensure alignment of the deliverables across the various projects with the overall Programme Integration Plan

The Person

In order to be considered for this daily rate Project Manager role, you will be a qualified and experienced Project Manager with relevant exposure within a large blue-chip environment:

Specific requirements for the successful candidate would include:

  • A strong background in Project Management ideally within the financial services environment and a deep understanding of change and project management disciplines
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships across different levels of seniority
  • Ideally a project management qualification (PMP/Prince2)
  • The ability to analyse business improvement opportunities and develop appropriate business solutions
  • Strong documentation skills with the ability to track and measure project deliverables
  • The ability to devise solutions, business or technical, recognise opportunities across a very broad front and to take action to exploit opportunities that will have a measurable effect
  • Strong systems skills, including advanced Excel and exposure to mainstream ERPs
