They operate across 350 facilities in 150 countries, with an innovative portfolio of over 46,000 patents. They are currently looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to be based in the Galway region.

The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be joining an R&D Program where you have the opportunity to lead manufacturing equipment design activities with relevant project teams to deliver projects on time and on budget. In addition, you will:

• Work with internal and external customers through design, development, FAT, installation and commissioning stages.
• Recognize and develop prototypes of high-risk mechanisms.
• Promote innovation and proactively monitor new technology.
• Develop, recommend, and apply sound construction concepts to achieve design for manufacturability.
• Review vendor capability, assign and manage projects as appropriate.

The Person

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will have a Bachelors/Masters in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics or engineering discipline, a minimum of 5 years' experience within equipment design in the medical industry and experience of working with multidisciplinary teams of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to bring an equipment/automation project to completion.

As the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will also have demonstrated expertise within the following areas:

• Experience with 3D mechanical design - SolidWorks, Inventor or equivalent.
• Experience of machine vision integration is an advantage.

This is a 12-month contract role.
