Job description

This leading Irish food ingredients company have been based in Dublin since 1993. They are a market leader in delivering ingredient based solutions for customers in the Processed Meat, Bakery, Snack Food, Flexitarian and Vegetarian product areas. They are seeking an experienced Senior NPD Technologist to join an ambitious and dynamic NPD team.

The Role

Duties and responsibilities of the Senior NPD Technologist will include:

  • Take ownership of the NPD process on specific projects by developing new products that respond to customer needs (including preparation of samples and sample documentation for customer presentations).
  • Complete NPD projects in accordance with the NPD Stage Gate and ensure all projects are progressed by the relevant cross function personnel and completed on time.
  • Carrying out taste panels and shelf-life studies, recording and acting on results.
  • Display a commercial awareness when material sourcing for trials and kitchen samples.
  • Seek to develop solutions that minimise the complexity of their manufacture.
  • Actively work to grow and develop a healthy and mutually beneficial customer relationship and represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Identifying and actioning material cost saving initiatives and communicating internally with other key functions.
  • To have a flexible and adaptive approach to R&D issues and play an active role in the development of the NPD team.
  • Work closely with other Divisions within the business to ensure optimum results are achieved.

The Person

You will have skills and experience in the following:

  • Relevant third level qualification in Food Science.
  • 8+ years experience in the Value Added Meat Industry preferably or experiences in the Value Added Food Industry Sector.
  • A strong working knowledge of ingredient functionality.
  • A culinary flair with a good history of developing and matching flavours.
  • Be able to demonstrate a history of new product idea generation.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to develop new products.
  • Excellent communication and technical skills.
  • Organized and professional at all times.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deliver on deadlines.
