Discovery

Our client, a leading healthcare organisation, was undertaking a significant expansion of its Irish operations, including the development of new R&D laboratories, analytical facilities and QA laboratories to support a growing portfolio of innovative products.

Their requirement extended beyond technical delivery. The organisation needed a coordinated project-based approach to hiring to enable the delivery of multiple specialist appointments across scientific, technical and programme leadership functions. They required highly specific expertise across diagnostic techniques, assay development, project management, lab management, scientific investigation, and people leadership within a lab environment.

Given the scale and urgency of the expansion programme, interim talent provided the specialist expertise and flexibility required to accelerate the hiring process, protect critical timelines and ensure operational readiness.

Reach

We leveraged HRM’s established contractor and interim talent network to identify highly skilled professionals with the required expertise.

A structured engagement approach enabled the rapid identification and mobilisation of talent aligned to both the technical requirements and organisational culture.

Given the specialist nature of the work and location requirements, the team engaged with candidates from multiple geographies to support the project. Of the 11 hires completed, six relocated from other parts of Ireland to be within commuting distance of the site.

Assessment

Candidates were assessed against the client’s technical and operational requirements, including technical capability, stakeholder management, and experience operating within regulated laboratory environments, as well as cultural alignment.

Impact

A specialist interim team was successfully deployed, providing the capability required to initiate the new development hub and support the expansion of the site’s R&D operations.

This project-based hiring strategy enabled immediate access to critical expertise while supporting the organisation’s long-term capability growth. The successful appointment of experienced interim professionals strengthened the site’s R&D capacity, supported operational continuity and enabled continued innovation across the organisation’s diagnostics portfolio.
