Assistant Accountant

The Role

The Assistant Accountant role, reporting to the Finance Director, will support the financial operations with a broad exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, assisting with the month end process and other ad hoc tasks. This role would offer someone an excellent opportunity to be mentored whilst you are training for one of the mainstream accounting qualifications.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and approving purchase orders
  • Coordination and recording of all AP invoices
  • Preparation of payment runs
  • Responding to all AP Queries
  • Creating sales quotes as advised
  • Creating and sending all AR invoices
  • Chasing collection of AR
  • Responding to all AR Queries
  • Input of all bank transactions to the accounting software and reconciliation
  • Input of credit card transactions to the accounting software and reconciliation
  • Support for the month end process as required
  • Drafting and submission of energy credits
  • Maintaining the customer database
  • General administrative duties as required from time to time

The Person

You will be degree qualified with a broad spectrum of experience across commercial environments. You will need to be adaptable and flexible with strong attention to detail and experience in supporting the business as it drives forward. In order to be considered you will:

  • Have 1-2 years of experience in finance, customer services or administration and hold a relevant business, accounting or science degree
  • Be interested and focused on developing in finance and looking to start an accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA)
  • An outstanding communicator and able to work professionally across all levels of the business
  • Have strong Excel skills and strong working knowledge of financial packages
  • Fun, hardworking and outgoing and able to demonstrate interests outside of work
