Associate Director – Audit Compliance

Our client is a global innovator and leading biopharmaceutical company inventing new ground-breaking treatments for numerous life-threatening diseases for over a century. The organisation works with customers and operate in over 140 countries to deliver innovative health solutions. Due to continued expansion, the organisation is seeking an experienced Associate Director to support the Audit and Compliance process and requirements related to capital project globally.

The Role

The Associate Director of Audit & Compliance, reporting the Director in the Manufacturing Division, will drive compliance for significant capital projects within the global group. The role will be responsible for developing the Global Annual Audit Plan, and executing Project Audits and Supplier Home Office Audits, including the management of contracted audit activities. This is an extremely progressive role with a considerable emphasis on strong business partnering across the organisation to support robust audit and compliance processes and controls, driving efficiencies, mitigating against risks and developing effective corrective action plans. There is considerable flexibility around the location of the role within the network and would require a strong individual who is enjoys travels as a part of their role.

The Associate Director of Audit & Compliance will:

  • Review requests for new audits to determine if the request meets audit criteria and include in audit schedule accordingly
  • Schedule and perform assigned audits and ensure timelines for audit steps meet established expectations
  • Maintain a broad expertise of company policies, procedures and guidelines, regulatory requirements pertinent to the pharmaceutical and construction industries
  • Obtain cutting-edge knowledge and application for various audit topics and maintain awareness of evolving industry and regulatory trends/regulations
  • Support new business opportunities through due diligence and pre-contract audits, issuance of reports, and evaluation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Assist with preparation of annual audit schedule, using risk-based approaches for auditor assignment
  • Lead and coordinate procurement and impacted leads on critical audit findings or refusals. Generate comprehensive presentations/summary of issues to all levels, ensuring required assessments are performed
  • Lead initiatives in various projects to maintain the efficiency of the audit program, and to ensure the audit program continues to meet using site and management expectations
  • Provide oversight of local auditors to ensure financial, procedural, and contractual considerations of Project Teams are addressed in a timely manner. Oversee contracted audit services, in Owner role
  • Ensure Senior Management access to real-time Project Audit dashboard reporting

The Person

The Associate Director of Audit & Compliance will be an experienced Project Manager and Auditor with working knowledge of large-scale construction and capital spend projects from within a highly regulated environment. Specific requirements for the successful candidate would include:

  • An experienced Auditor and ideally hold a qualification from one of the leading accountancy membership bodies (IIA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) as well as a number of years of experience supporting large capital spend projects within highly regulated environments
  • Experience performing audits of external and internal organisations and third parties is essential
  • Strong compliance knowledge and proficiency in interpreting and applying contractual, regulatory, and procedural requirements and guidelines
  • Must possess “Subject Matter Expertise”, including knowledge and demonstrated application in capital management process various construction industry practices
  • A strong communicator, negotiator and facilitator who is able to influence and provide strategic input at all levels of the organisation
  • Hold a Degree in Accounting, Engineering, Finance or Business at a minimum
  • Extensive experience of working within project focussed functions supporting multiple stakeholder and partnering closely with the business
  • Be open to travel in line with work requirements
