Automation Manager

With over fifty years’ experience in the development and compliant manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients and drug product intermediates, this expanding pharmaceutical manufacturer has invested in new manufacturing technology to introduce new processes in the year ahead. With four FDA inspected sites, this company offers branded pharmaceutical customers services for the production of innovative drugs including highly potent compounds. The current manager is on secondment to a new customer project and so the company are looking for an energetic and experienced Automation Manager to step into the role.

The Role

This position reports into the Engineering Director and will lead a team of 5 technical professionals. Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and supporting the team effectively and working to achieve objectives as agreed within the business
  • Driving technical site projects to improve existing processes and improve productivity within the facility
  • Overseeing the automation strategy as well as the design and development of an Automation programme for the site and ensuring this plan is adhered to in line with business objectives
  • Facilitating new and innovative projects on-site such as continuous manufacturing, new CI campaigns and new equipment proposals to improve efficiencies within the facility
  • Monitoring KPI’s within the team and assess performance against target

The Person

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a degree in Engineering with a minimum of 8 years’ experience
  • Have experience working across ERP & MES platforms in a regulated GMP manufacturing operation – Pharmaceutical, Biotech or Medical Device sectors
  • Be a strong communicator with the ability to lead a team to achieve a common objective
  • Take a flexible approach to work and a positive attitude will be a good fit with the team dynamic and work ethic
  • Be an autonomous individual who can work on their own initiative, who is ambitious and has strong problem-solving skills
