Head of HR

A well-established and leading Irish retailer are currently hiring a Head of Human Resources to join their Senior Management team to provide a people focused HR strategy and vision for the business. Leading a team of 3 and supporting a multisite headcount, this key position in the business will guide the HR team to deliver a first in class HR service and focus on developing strategic HR initiatives including; performance management, compensation and benefits and talent management.

The Role

As the new Head of HR, you will be responsible for;

  • Developing a HR strategy to support business growth and contribute to the business strategy by helping to identify, prioritise, and build organisational capabilities, behaviours, structures, and processes
  • Developing and refining HR policy, procedures and practices within the business with a view to setting a best practice HR approach which is clear, consistent and fit for purpose in the business
  • Providing HR support to the Senior Management team, line managers and employees on various people related situations with an emphasis on a coaching approach and basic management skills development
  • Working with Senior Team to develop labour plans for the year including involvement in setting of wage budgets and targets and manpower planning
  • Reviewing and developing the organisational structure with a view to understanding current capacity and developing the capability to deliver the growth plan
  • Putting employee engagement firmly on the agenda with a programme of effective internal communications initiatives
  • Retaining core ethos of the business while continuously striving for improvement on the people and culture front

The Person

The ideal candidate for this role will have a primary degree in a relevant discipline and a CIPD qualification, at least 8 years’ experience in a service driven environments and strong business acumen with an ability to operate as an organisational leader to influence at senior level.

High level change management skills, strategic organisational design and development and talent management is essential for this position. In addition to this, exceptional interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills are key for success in this role.
