Job description

A global CDMO organisation who specialise in API/Chemical manufacturing on behalf of their client base are seeking an experienced leader to join their organisation as an Operations Director.

The role

  • Ensuring continuity of supply and a stable and productive work environment
  • Effectively embed the new structure for the Swords facility developing the capabilities required to support successful implementation of API strategy
  • Driving end to end delivery of product drawing in appropriate resources when needed to ensure that strategic and operational objectives are achieved
  • Providing Technical leadership in achieving process and capacity improvements
  • Successfully delivering on the launch of new processes for commercial launch alongside colleagues and business stakeholders
  • Ensuring that productivity targets are met in a consistent and timely manner with a specific focus on throughput, yield, quality, labour utilisation and expense control
  • Developing direct reports to improve their technical, organisational and management abilities. Ensure local talent reviews happen with robust succession plans in place for key positions. Providing ongoing coaching and development for the operations function
  • Working in conjunction with finance to prepare and manage operating budgets for the operations area of the business while also working alongside Engineering functions to identify capital budget
  • Working with the leadership team and site leader to identify and set annual cost saving targets through operational excellence activities and process improvements

The Person

  • You will have an in-depth knowledge of API/ Pharmaceutical or Biologics operations.
  • At least 10 years of experience operating in a leadership capacity within a GMP environment.
  • A proven leader, with gravitas and the ability to develop and coach high performing technical professionals
  • A thorough understanding of plant operations and engineering projects.
  • Experience of leading change transition processes (ideally in a unionised environment.
  • Executive level influencing skills with the ability to balance the culture of the organisation allied to a strong business acumen.
