Purchasing Assistant

Our client is the producer of some of the world’s most popular whiskeys and one of Ireland’s leading suppliers of spirits and wines are currently recruiting for the temporary position of Purchasing Assistant. Since 2012, they have invested over €250m to double their production and bottling capacity to meet global demand for their products. They employ over 600 people across operations in Cork and Dublin. There is a further planned investment of over 150million euro beginning early 2019.

The Role:

Reporting to the Category Purchasing Manager, the Purchasing Assistant will sit on the Purchasing Team and have the following responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Category Purchasing Manager with the planning and procurement of defined dry goods in line with the defined category strategy
  • Working closely with NPD Marketing & Finance on new product set up
  • Driving and co-ordinating continuous improvement opportunities with suppliers with focus on cost reduction/value engineering through supplier performance management
  • Working closely with Value Engineering teams to drive efficiencies and cost reduction
  • Working closely with Packaging Development/Bottling Innovation Manager and Production teams on supplier change management
  • Assisting with the resolution of all bottling and packing supplier related issues
  • Assisting with all administrative tasks

  • Very results orientated to meet project deadlines
  • Motivated and pro-active can-do attitude
  • IT literate with proven experience in MS Office & SAP
  • Analytical ability & ability to problem solve
  • Third level qualification in related Procurement/Quality/Supply Chain
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar purchasing role, preferably within FMCG sector
  • Manufacturing planning experience
