Senior Automation Engineer

A large scale global Medical Device manufacturer are looking for Senior Automation Engineer to join them on site at their base in Cork city to cater for new technologies that facilitate the need for more automated machines. The successful Automation Engineer will have the opportunity to have a tangible impact on operations and will make key decisions within the organisation with regards to Automation.

The Role

The successful Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for the introduction of Automated Systems for use in Manufacturing/Packaging/Boxing processes across the site. You will obtain an in-depth knowledge of existing manufacturing processes to enable cost reduction opportunities to be identified and assessed for appropriateness where Automated solutions could be implemented.

Key elements of your role as Senior Automation Engineer will include:

  • Project managing automation projects from inception through requirements definition, vendor selection, budget development/ROI, design reviews, FAT, SAT, validation and scale up
  • Having good experience with and knowledge of the development of PLC Control programming and the ability to troubleshoot same as required
  • Collaborating with Value Stream Engineering and the Process Development Group on new product introductions on the design & sourcing of custom equipment. The key skill required for this will be the spec’ing of equipment
  • Seeking out possible ‘off the shelf’ equipment solutions that are in line with cost reduction goals

The Person

All applications for this Senior Automation Engineer role must have a Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 2 years’ experience. Additionally, you will be:

  • A strong communicator with the ability to work within a team to achieve a common objective
  • An autonomous individual who can work on your own initiative, who is ambitious and has strong problem-solving skills
