Our client is a global speciality biopharmaceutical company listed on NASDAQ employing over 1,000 people in 13 countries worldwide. Over the last five years, the company has increased its headcount fivefold and has approximately tripled its market cap. The business now seeks to appoint a Senior Director, Compliance Officer to the ex-US business, a key role in delivering on the regulatory, legal and strategic objectives for the company.
Based in Oxford England, the appointee, who will work closely with the ex-US management team based in Oxford and with the global Chief Compliance Officer based in Palo Alto, will be the primary point of contact within the ex-US business for compliance-related matters. The Senior Director, Compliance Officer will have responsibility for the development and implementation of compliance policies and SOPs, training initiatives, auditing and monitoring activities, and assisting with investigations of alleged compliance violations. The appointee will chair and lead the ex-US Compliance Committee, and will also be a member of the Operations Leadership Team, which consists of functional management from across the ex-US Division. The appointee will have one direct report, the Compliance Manager for the ex-US business.
Technically expert in pharmaceutical compliance regulations and familiar with the requirements of the FCPA and UK Bribery Act as they apply to the biopharmaceutical industry, the appointee will be confident, credible and proactive in their approach and be clear and unambiguous in their advice. Candidates will have a minimum of 8 years’ experience in the life sciences industry, and should have at least 3 to 5 years’ experience of dealing with concrete EU compliance, regulatory, legal issues. Suitable applicants will be team players, independent thinkers and capable of working autonomously when necessary.
