Job description

Our client is a global leader in the biotech sector who are investing heavily in their Irish presence. This involves the construction of a new state-of-the-art biologics drug substance manufacturing facility in Munster. As a result of this investment, the organisation is seeking an experienced Engineering Professional to lead their process engineering operations at this new site, this role is pivotal to enabling the organisation to reach its ambitious timelines to operational readiness.

The Position

  • The Associate Director of Process Engineering is directly responsible for managing the process engineering function and ensuring it has the necessary capacity and capability structures in place to deliver the site objectives in support of the manufacturing plan.

  • Provide technical leadership and coaching for the process engineering team across safety, quality, engineering and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Oversight engineering related issues and improvements including review & approval of deviations and change controls.

  • Provide process engineering support to the manufacturing operations onsite.

  • Contribute to local capitals projects required to support the site specifically during start-up phase.

  • Develop and implement systems and processes to run the site.

  • Support the project team as they deliver the facility to the site team, by providing feedback and support on decisions & strategies for both the project and longer-term strategic goals for the site.

  • Liaise with functional support groups and encourage collaborations, both formal and informal, between the team and other departments.

  • Participate appropriately in site planning processes (capital and resource), representing the interests of the team with a view to the overall site picture.

The Person

  • Hold minimum of a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and a minimum of 10 years of experience in a leadership role managing engineering operations within the biopharmaceutical/pharmaceutical industry.

  • Will possess knowledge and understanding of cGMPs and how they apply to manufacturing operations.

  • Display strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrate the ability to form effective relationships at all levels. This candidate must be able to work closely with the Site Leadership Team to ensure alignment.

  • Have a demonstrated track record of successfully developing, managing and executing projects from cradle to grave.
