Job description

A well-established electrical manufacturing organisation who has recently been acquired a seeking an experienced technical business manager to join their leadership team based out of their manufacturing facility in Meath. The Business Manager will lead and develop the organisation to achieve its strategic objectives in the short, medium and long term through client engagement, the development of products and the leadership of the engineering disciplines within the group.

The role

  • As the Business Manager, you will Identify, and initiate opportunities based on their strategic importance to the organisation.
  • You will lead tendering, contract and pricing negotiations on multiyear framework contracts. Leading client engagement and determining pricing on non-contracted products.
  • You will develop pricing models and negotiating with clients on price model implementation.
  • Managing product offer from both a financial and technical perspective including lifecycle management of the product range.
  • Manage the engineering design team by allocating tasks, assessing and setting priorities and ensuring adherence with the design technical standards to create technically compliant products.
  • You will act as the lead electrical engineer responsible for all electrical design, standards, testing both internal and external, wiring and investigation of product failures.
  • Ensure that products, both existing and in development, achieve their required function cognizant of materials, production techniques, user requirements, supply chain risks and cost.
  • Contribute to the overall financial wellbeing of the organisation in terms of achieving turnover, margin, resource planning and cost management.
  • You will work with stakeholders to coordinate IT integration and IT infrastructure both hardware and software with responsibility for managing IT services and service providers.
  • Primary contact for clients for technical queries, contracts and pricing.

The Person

  • Qualified with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering Degree.
  • Experience in a similar senior role with specific experience of dealing directly with or working for Electricity Utilities in both the Irish and UK markets.
  • Familiar with regulated tendering processes, framework contracts, material and market indexes.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong internal and external stakeholder management experience
  • People management and team leadership skills with a strong ability to impact, influence and convince others.
  • Broad business knowledge with the ability to assess and resolve multi-disciplinary problems and communicate solutions to a diverse range of individuals.
