Job description

Our client, the European leader in integrated construction solutions and project development, is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional for the position of Group Safety Director. This role is to help support and manage complex engineering and construction projects from a health and safety standpoint, for some of the world's leading corporations. We are seeking a well-established, experience-rich health and safety professional to join this operation.

The Position

As Group Safety Director, you will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, and governance regarding legislation and regulation in construction safety and company compliance for Irish and EU operations.

Other key responsibilities would include:

  • You will lead the development, rollout and maintenance of the company's EHS in the region and the development of standards and procedures, incorporating new requirements in line with the latest industry approach, and improvements identified by the project teams / regional teams or functional groups.
  • As lead of the EHS function you will be responsible for accident investigations, driving EHS culture, training of the Department, continuous improvement, and ensuring the standardisation journey is continued.
  • You will manage the team in accordance with ISO14001 and OHSAS 180001.
  • You will prepare monthly reports for COO/CEO.
  • You will regularly travel to the EU sites (approx. 2-3 days per week twice per month).

The Person

  • Seeking health and safety professionals who have worked on €750 million+ projects.
  • A minimum 10 years' experience within the construction industry (experience in life sciences, semiconductors, data centres is advantageous).
  • Accredited health and safety professional (ISO14001 & OHSAS 180001).
  • Degree background in science, health and safety, engineering, or related technical degree.
