Job description

Our client is a nationwide market leading FMCG organisation, with two sites in Ireland. With a headcount of approximately 800 at their Cavan site, an opportunity for a Health & Safety Coordinator has opened up. This is a permanent position, and an excellent opportunity for someone to develop their career in Health & Safety.

The Role

Duties and responsibilities of the Health & Safety Coordinator include:

  • Completion and review of risk assessments
  • Maintaining, developing, communicating, and enforcing risk management system related policies, procedures, and forms
  • Be aware of current and new legislation, COP's, standards, and guidelines and refer to these where required in risk assessments & SOP's
  • Training and pre-start inspections
  • Accident, near miss investigation and case management
  • Permit to work procedures, forms, and compliance
  • PPE compliance and contractor control in conjunction with area production managers, supervisors and engineering personnel
  • Provide weekly report regarding risk management system development, practice, and compliance with advice on necessary controls to reduce and eliminate safety risks and non-compliance issues

The Person

You will have skills and experience in the following:

  • BSc/Diploma in health & safety, food science, engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience in a H&S Coordinator role or similar position within an FMCG work environment
  • Knowledge of H&S regulations, guidelines, COP's, and best practices
  • Working knowledge and ability to operate, maintain, and develop a site risk management system with experience in writing policies and procedures for health and safety
  • Proficient in MS Office - PowerPoint, Excel, and safety management software
  • Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees, supervisors, and production managers
  • Good time-management, organizational and problem-solving skills
