Job description

Our client is a global healthcare solutions company that have been leading the photochromic industry for more than 25 years. Due to continuous innovations a new position for Process Development Engineer has arisen at their Tuam, Co. Galway facility.

The Position:

  • You will work with both the R&D, and operations team to ensure the successful development of robust mixing processes and scale up procedures for these new Photochromic solutions
  • You will be the key Global Engineering contact with the R&D teams for the introduction of new Photochromic solutions and business continuity/regulatory related enforced changes
  • You will identify opportunities for improvement and harmonization between new product development cycle and the Mix Lab industrialization processes
  • You will work with the Global Industrialization Group to harmonize the Photochromic Solution Industrialization process with the Global Industrialization Process
  • You will Support the Global Industrialization Process and lead Photochromic Solution industrializations and FMEA's related to new Photochromic solutions. This is to identify risks related to the manufacture of the solution
  • You will Provide technical support to issues detected in testing
  • You will create close cross functional working groups with R&D, GQ, Mix Lab, and Operations
  • You will provide regular, comparative reports to the key stakeholders and worldwide operations and the global engineering team

The Person:

  • A travel commitment of approximately ~ 30% is a requirement for this position
  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Equivalent is required
  • 5-7 years' experience in an operations, engineering or technical role
  • Must be able to interpret Materials Safety Data Sheets & work with Engineering teams to implement appropriate controls for safe handling/processing of chemicals
  • Must have a detailed knowledge of engineering and process technology systems coupled with proven project management capability
  • Knowledge of Industrial coating processes would be an advantage
  • Industrial experience in flow dynamics, rheology, or mixing technology would be an advantage
  • Knowledgeable in process problem solving and Lean Sigma
