Job description

Our client is a fast paced and exciting pharmaceutical business who are on a considerable growth protectory. They have commercialised products, an excellent pipeline and broad international presence ensuring a healthy revenue stream and supporting their ongoing investment into the business. They are highly specialised and hugely acquisitive and have a substantial depth of experience in the organisation and due to their recent growth, they are now seeking a deeply experienced Chief Financial Officer /Finance Director to join the business to drive the business forward. The successful Chief Accounting Officer will be sitting on the leadership team in their global headquarters in Dublin ensuring the value is achieved through robust financial strategy, control and process globally.

The Role

This Chief Accounting Officer position will require someone who is experience in building and developing teams, has been involved in business integration and has strong focus on accurate and effective financial control and reporting. The person, reporting to the Group CFO and working closely with business will be responsible for rapidly building a robust finance function across multiple global locations and to drive the finance agenda. The key responsibilities would include:

  • Leading and developing a rapidly expanding finance team across multiple world-wide locations
  • Project managing the transition of a large finance function from one jurisdiction to Ireland and supporting further integrations following acquisitions.
  • Supporting and driving the implementation of new ERP system
  • Providing relevant, timely, accurate financial information and analysis to the business - including monthly accounts and commentary, explain variances to budget and forecasts
  • Preparation of reports for the Board including key performance indicators and cash flows
  • Developing and implementing proper and effective internal financial controls
  • Providing financial analysis to improve processes and performance, and supporting effective business decision making
  • Preparation of potential stock exchange filings

The Person

In order to be considered for the Chief Accounting Officer role, you will be a qualified accountant with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience in a similar environment responsible for strategic and operational finance in a growing and highly regulated business. You will need to be a strong stakeholder manager and be able to demonstrate having lead projects and/or change programmes. A strong technical knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP is essential along with a well-rounded background in people management and development. In order to be considered you will have:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a strong background in delivering value in a multinational environment
  • Have held a similar CFO/Chief Accounting Officer role a highly commercial business where you have built a team both locally and internationally putting in place reporting structures, financial control and effectively managed a Finance team to achieve exceptional results
  • Have experience and a deep understanding of the key drivers to support a highly commercial and ambitious business as it grows
  • Strong technical accounting experience including deep working knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP and SOX compliance
  • Experience in business integrations, finance re-structuring as required and change management to support efficiencies and drive value
  • Excellent systems skills, in particular experience in ERP implementation and setting up reporting tools
  • Experience in M&A, IPOs and Investor Relations would be beneficial
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills and experience of working with other cultures
  • Progressive track record of successfully operating at senior level reporting to Board level
  • Ideally have multinational experience from within the pharmaceutical sector
