Job description

Our client is a market leading renewable energy business based out of Dublin and part of a wider international group. They offer a hugely progressive and professional environment and are looking for a strong financial modeller to support the business on a permanent basis to support the ongoing growth of the organisation.

 

The Role

The Financial Modeller role, reporting in the Commercial Director, will be responsible for preparing, building and optimising financial models. The successful candidate will manage the modelling process from the business's side, managing the lenders', valuation and operating models for each of the projects as well as company's investment portfolio model. The role will provide first hand exposure to private equity, investment banking and M&A activities and would suit an ambitious candidate keen to establish a strong foundation within financial modelling before progressing to take more responsibility for project financing or M&A work and commercial negotiations.

 

The role will require travel to other company offices as well as other countries where the company may or may not have operations. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Design, build and maintain highly complex financial models for renewable energy projects including:
    • Ability to audit/sense check a financial model quickly and succinctly to ensure outputs are reasonable in order to make quick, correct commercial decisions
    • Analysis of cash flows
    • Ability to challenge those providing inputs to ensure an accurate representation of the risks and rewards is prepared and presented
  • Accurate management of information flows used to maintain financial models
  • Take responsibility for structural integrity and functionality of models including accounting, tax and regulatory requirements of various global markets
  • Support the acquisition, investment, tender, bidding and financial close activities of multi-million dollar projects globally
  • Contribute towards commercial negotiations and assumptions included within such models, highlighting potential efficiencies / risk areas on acquisitions, investments, disposals & associated funding activities
  • Work internally as part of multi-functional teams to assess markets and projects as required
  • Clear financial analysis and communication of results

 

The Person

You will be a qualified Accountant having ideally trained in one of the "Big 4" practice firms with a broad spectrum of experience and exposure to financial modelling and/or corporate finance transactions. You will need to be adaptable and flexible with a strategic approach to support the business as it drives forward. In order to be considered you will:

  • Be a fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA) or equivalent with 2-3 years' of post qualification experience in a relevant role
  • Possess significant experience in building complex financial models to support business decisions
  • Have strong working modelling tools and the ability to analyse qualitative & quantitative information for decision making
  • Be a strong financial business partner and able to add commercial value to senior stakeholders
  • Ideally be practice trained from a "Big 4" or "Top 10" practice firm
  • Have advanced Excel skills and be quick to pick up on new systems
  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Be able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Be open and flexible to international travel as required
