Job description

The business currently seeks an experienced General Manager to assume full responsibility for the sales, aftersales and general management of the Dealership based in South Dublin.

The Role

The General Manager will hold a significant leadership position reporting directly to the MSL Motor Group Head of Commercial Operations for Mercedes-Benz. This is a pivotal role responsible for steering the operational activities during a momentous period of transformation for Mercedes-Benz as the brand shifts towards a focus on luxury and an electric model range.

This senior appointment will also encompass strategic planning, as you will be expected to drive the vison and long-term future of Mercedes-Benz South Dublin.

To be effective in this role will require a developed leader with a significant track record of delivery and substantial experience within the motor industry. A depth of experience managing sales, aftersales and general operation within a large-scale dealership would be required.

Specific responsibilities would include:

  • Cultivating a high-performance, collaborative, and empowered leadership culture, effectively influencing and engaging with stakeholders at all organisational levels.
  • Taking charge of the financial targets for the business, ensuring their efficient management and achievement.
  • Overseeing the seamless implemntation of Mercedes-Benz Mar20X new corporate identity and customer experience standards within the Dealership.
  • Establishing and nurturing a robust sales team, focused on efficient processes and exceptional customer service.
  • Skilfully negotiating and agreeing yearly sales and aftersales targets with distributors.
  • Demonstrating excellence in operational performance across all key indicators, encompassing sales, aftersales, people management, safety, quality, service, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensuring strict adherence to group policies and processes, as directed by the Head of Commercial Operations.
  • Upholding unwavering compliance with Mercedes-Benz brand standards and adeptly navigating through the audit process.
  • Assuming responsibility for the overall maintenance and upkeep of the Dealership facility.
  • Safeguarding compliance with Health and Safety legislation and ISO accreditation standards.

The Person

In order to be considered for the General Manager position, it is critical that the successful candidate demonstrates the key competencies focused on driving results, leadership, delivering customer experience and implementing strategy. They seek a senior leader who operates at a strategic level with experience in building an effective operational structure orientated around the customer and brand experience.

  • Proven experience at a senior management level within the motor industry is essential.
  • A proven and successful track record in the management of sales teams with the desired results achieved.
  • Aftersales management experience is desirable.
  • Experienced in working within a target driven environment.
  • Experience in working in a luxury motor brand is desirable.
  • Experience in the passenger vehicle sector is highly desirable.
  • Proven people management skills and leadership ability.
  • Sound business acumen, and the capability to control costs and increase profits.
  • A strong work ethic with the ability to achieve desired results.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work to high standards.
  • Strong IT and administration skills.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure.
