Job description

Our client is a global leader in the biotech industry sector employing over 40,000 staff internationally with over 30 billion in revenue in 2023. This industry leader is investing heavily in its internal Biologics manufacturing operations. With the development of a state-of-the-art Drug Product Biotech and Device/Packaging manufacturing campus at their greenfield site in Germany, our client is seeking a Senior Director of Operations to lead their operations function. This next-generation Biotech manufacturing plant will be the organisation's most technically advanced Drug Product manufacturing operations once complete which constitutes a 2.5bn USD investment by the organisation.

The Position
The Senior Director of Operations is directly responsible for managing the manufacturing operations function and ensuring it has the necessary capacity, capability, and leadership structures in place to deliver the site manufacturing plan.

  • You will be responsible for the integration of the cross functional management team that provides functional support to global manufacturing operations.
  • The Senior Director of Operations is a member of the Lilly site leadership team with a collective responsibility to develop and implement the strategic direction and management of the site.
  • You will build the organisation with the necessary capability, capacity, and culture to operate this facility to the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Developing and implementing systems & processes needed to run the facility, leveraging exciting business knowledge where necessary.
  • Building key relationships internally and externally to act as a sponsor for strategic corporate initiatives at the site level.
  • You will have an external and internal focus, benchmarking best practices across the global manufacturing network.
  • Developing strategic and operational plans for production operations with responsibility for the execution of these plans.
  • Participating in the development and delivery of the medium- and long-term strategic direction for the site.
  • You will ensure a robust control system exists to manage the business identify compliance issues and escalate issues appropriately.
  • You will be responsible for implementing new product introductions and continuous improvement opportunities championing CI and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Developing future management and technical leadership for the site and potential global assignments.

The Person

  • You will be a collaborative, inclusive, energetic leader with extensive knowledge of leadership within pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.
  • Should have experience developing and managing extremely talented, engaged, and high performing teams with a focus on building strong team cultures to ensure a safe and successful work environment.
  • Fluent in English and German language.
  • Must possess knowledge and understanding of cGMPs and how they apply to manufacturing operations.
  • You will have a strong ability to form effective relationships at all levels.
  • Should have a demonstrated track record of successfully developing, managing and executing projects from start to finish on time and within budget with high performance standards that ensure customer satisfaction.
