Job description

This is one of Irelands leading producers and an international organisation with multiple operations here in Ireland who has achieved growth and success through its development of its state-of-the-art technologies and by engaging innovative members and teams in the organisation to produce some of the best in class products in todays markets. This leader has seen continuous growth at its operations in Leinster and stemming from this growth, a need for a Site Head of Engineering has arisen.

The Position:

  • Overall accountability for developing and implementing engineering strategy with strong focus on quality, cost and delivery, maximizing efficiency, optimising and driving engineering excellence along with effective predictive maintenance.
  • Providing leadership, outstanding people skills and management to our team of experienced engineers.
  • Lead the design, installation, maintenance and improvement of production lines and ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to.
  • Drive best practice reliability processes (Predictive maintenance, labour requirements, spend).
  • Implement and manage continuous improvement principles by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
  • Lead, coach and co-ordinate the activities of the engineering team to drive a preventative maintenance culture and processes to provide excellent levels of machine availability and supply of utilities.
  • Embed strong project management disciplines.
  • Develop a data driven decision making process that is aligned to the objectives of production.
  • Build capability within the team and across the broader operations teams.
  • Lead from the front, set safety, environmental, quality and behavioural expectations and adherence.
  • Budgetary responsibility for the site engineering costs.

The Person:

  • 10 years of experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment ideally within a highly regulated environment.
  • 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Excellent troubleshooting experience with the ability to understand, assess and work through and resolve maintenance issues.
  • Proven experience in maintenance strategy and planning and in managing capital projects.
  • Proven experience in delivering engineering best - practice.
  • Engineering Diploma &/ or Degree (Mechanical or Electrical) - Preferred.
